about

This recording, from the Dades valley near Boumalne Dades, was made next to a rocky gully at the bottom of which down ran a small stream. The background was clean and quiet with a pleasing acoustic so I didn't mind the distant sound of Berber women washing clothes in the stream. Crickets and Wheatears can be heard calling with frogs and toads - deeper-voiced Berber Toads (Amietophrynus mauritanicus) and Sahara Frog (Pelophyllax saharicus). Recording made at 10am on the 17th April 2015.
